 The Belize 2012 year–long Maya sporting extravaganza will offer a range of challenging events every month in the lead up to a grand awards ceremony in December 2012. Supported by the National Sports Commission and the Cycling Associations, the challenges will include the nation–wide Maya Temple to Maya Temple cycling and torch relay foot races, the La Ruta Maya River Challenge canoe race from the Maya Mountains to the Caribbean sea, Maya Islands sea kayaking and sailing races, fishing tournaments, and spectacular re-enactments of the sacred Maya ball game. And these are just a few of the exhilarating sporting events opportunities that Belize will be showcasing as we pay homage to the beginning of a new era.
